adaption of the measuring principle of the ultrasound
transmission measuring known from the testing of materials
opened up the spectacular possibility of scrutinizing
papers, textiles, synthetic materials and so on and liquids
as well as the dynamics of her interaction with a resolution
in the millisecond area.

The beginning of the development of the paper testing by means
of ultrasound at the Institute for Graphic Technique Leipzig
(IGT).

Foundation of the company emco Elektronische Meß- und
Steuerungstechnik GmbH with the ultrasound-transmission
measuring as a fundamental idea. The development led over
the versions PLG20, DPM20, DPM26 to the version DPM27.

The beginning of the cooperation with
Dr. Praast for the exclusive sale of the picture evaluation
systems emcoIAS
developed by him.
The beginning of the cooperation with
Schaller Messtechnik GmbH Ludersdorf at the development and
the worldwide sale of moisture measuring systems as
hand-held gauges, transmitters and online measuring for the
nondestructive determination of the moisture in paper,
cardboard and carton as an alternative to the infrared and
microwaves-measuring systems.
2000
Introduction of the dynamic expansion measuring
emcoDDPM as an extension of the
emcoDPM to the complex characterization of
the dynamic behavior of paper. Simultaneous measuring of the
dynamics of ultrasound and tension.

Electronic thickness measuring in the range to 5 mm as a
battery operated hand-held gauge.
Introduction of the calibrated absolute ultrasound transmission
measuring in dB at the emcoDPM
and new software emcoViewer.
November 2002
emco GmbH takes over the devision paper test technology (APPS, IBT, GPR, DSP,
NDT, TSS) from the company Roschiwal and Partner and extends this
systematically.
2003
Development und production of the first paper testing automat
emcoPPA and standard testing instruments of one's own
emcoIBT, emcoGPR, emcoIBT,
emcoNDT. The innovations scarredness and cockling as modules for
the emcoIAS are developed and
introduced.
2004
A revolution in the printing press will trigger the Web Tension
Control System introduced by emco at the DRUPA. This one makes an
optimal control of the web tensions possible for a paper in the printing process
and the last hurdle removes on the way to the fully automatic printing machine.
2005
The first references for the Web Tension Control System are installated.
emco and the PTS cooperate in the field of the picture evaluation and
become the world's biggest complete supplier of picture evaluation applications
of paper.
The development of an NIR-equipment and software platform
optimized for paper will characterize the receipt of goods control and material
testing decisively together with the company Bruker in the paper processing
industry.
The care of available measuring systems and testing
technologies as well as the development and introduction of new innovative
measuring systems and testing technologies worldwide is in the center of the
company activity both for the paper producing industry and the paper processing
industry in future, too.
